Abu Dhabi has officially inaugurated the 11th edition of the Traditional Crafts and Industries Festival at Qattara Souq in Al Ain, held under the patronage of Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and Representative of the Ruler in Al Ain, His Highness Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan. However, it will run from the 1st of November to the 20th of November 2025.
This edition celebrates “A Journey Through Community Traditional Crafts”. Hence, it aligns with the Year of Community initiative launched by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi).
Moreover, the Traditional Crafts And Industries Festival is organised by the DCT Abu Dhabi. Plus, the festival aims to revive and promote authentic Emirati craftsmanship, foster cultural awareness, and support traditional artisans through economic and social empowerment.
A Cultural Celebration Rooted in Heritage

The Traditional Crafts And Industries Festival goes beyond showcasing artistry. Hence, it serves as a big platform for cultural exchange, skill development, and community engagement. Moreover, visitors of all ages are going to experience the deep-rooted tradition of the UAE in a dynamic and immersive environment.
Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of DCT Abu Dhabi, highlighted the cultural importance of the festival. Hence, he states, “This edition shows a steadfast dedication to preserving and celebrating Emirati heritage.”
Plus, he highlighted that the festival has become a cornerstone of the cultural landscape of Abu Dhabi, which connects the rich Emirati past with the creativity of the present. In addition, it strengthens the national identity and pride.
Four Pavilions Showcasing Traditional Crafts
This season features specialised pavilions. However, each of them is dedicated to a core element of Emirati craftsmanship. Below is the list of those pavilions:
- Emirati Coffee Pavilion
It celebrates Arab hospitality through the following perks:
- Live coffee-making demonstrations
- Storytelling sessions
- Kids’ workshops on traditional serving methods
- Textiles & Palm Fronds Pavilion
You can explore many crafts in this pavilion. Below are the examples of those crafts:
- Sadu weaving
- Khous (palm frond weaving)
- Hands-on weaving sessions
- Traditional Attire Pavilion
Here, you can explore an immersive journey into Emirati beauty and style traditions. Below are the examples of those traditions:
- Perfume blending
- Incense making
- Jewellery crafting
- Tailoring demonstrations
- Blacksmithing & Leatherworks Pavilion
It will features the following elements:
- Sword and dagger crafting
- Metal and leatherwork demonstrations
- Traditional household tool creation
Empowering Emirati Talent & Youth
The special attention is given to knowledge transfer and creative empowerment this year. However, the “Mawhibati” (My Talent) initiative highlights young Emirati innovators. In addition, the “Emirati Voices” bring local artists to the spotlight with live musical performance.
Heritage Trails at UNESCO Oasis Sites

The festival extends into Al Jimi and Qattara Oasis Trails. Hence, it offers the visitors the following features:
- Cultural walking trails across 1.4 km of historic landscapes
- Traditional irrigation system tours
- Interactive installations celebrating Gulf navigation traditions
“Manar Abu Dhabi” exhibition, themed “Your Guide, Canopus Star” is a big highlight. Hence, it explore the symbolism of light in the Gulf history and travel traditions through immersive art installations.
