Residents across the United Arab Emirates can finally look forward to relief from the record-breaking summer heat. As per Ibrahim Al Jarwan, Chairman of the Emirates Astronomy Society, the UAE autumn will begin on the 22nd of September, Monday, at 10:20 pm UAE time. On this day, day and night us going to be nearly equal in length throughout the world. Hence, it marks the autumnal equinox.
Gradual Cooling After a Scorching Summer
Al Jarwan explained that the autumn in the UAE is a transitional season between the extreme heat and mild winter chill. Below are the details related to the upcoming season:
- Early autumn (late September): 37°C by day, 23°C at night
- Mid-autumn (November 8): 32°C by day, 18°C at night
- End of autumn (December 21): 26°C by day, 14°C at night
Humidity will be high in September and October, but it will slowly decline by mid-November. Moreover, rainfall will typically increase towards December, as it could average of between 16 to 18 mm.
Astronomical Events to Watch in Autumn 2025
This season will bring opportunities for stargazers and astronomy lovers across the UAE due to clear skies. Below are the top of those opportunities:
- New Moons: September 21, October 21, and November 20—ideal for viewing distant galaxies and comets.
- Meteor Showers:
- Orionids (October 21–22)
- Taurids (November, producing bright fireballs). The best viewing times are after midnight, away from city lights.
- Bright Constellations: Orion, Cassiopeia, Andromeda, Pegasus (“Autumn Square”), and the famous Summer Triangle.
Rare Comets Visible This Season
This season will also provide you with an opportunity to see two comets. We have listed the details related to these comets below:
- Comet Lemmon (C/2025 A6) — possibly visible to the naked eye.
- Interstellar Comet 3I/ATLAS — It is far from beyond our solar system. So, it is best to see with binoculars or a telescope.
A Season for Stargazing and Cooler Nights
By the end of the autumn, daylight is going to be cut to 10 hours and 55 minutes. Hence, it will make the evening cooler and the skies darker, which is perfect for the desert stargazing trips. However, there will be no lunar or solar eclipses during this season. Still, the combination of meteor showers, new moon, and comets makes the UAE autumn 2025 one of the most exciting seasons for sky watchers in the nation.
