The International Astronomy Center in the United Arab Emirates has confirmed that the Islamic month of Rabi Al Awwal will officially begin on the 25th of August, 2025, Monday, after the crescent moon was not sighted on Saturday, August 23.
Crescent Moon Not Sighted on August 23
According to the astronomers, it was astronomically impossible to see the crescent pm Saturday through the naked eye, telescopes, or advanced imaging technology. However, the visibility improved on Sunday, i.e, today, August 24, when the crescent became clearly visible across most Arab countries. So, the difference in visibility results in different start dates for the new month across the region.
