UAE Equinox 2025: UAE to Experience Equal Day and Night Hours by September 23

Daylight hours across the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are slowly shortening this month. Therefore, it is tied to the autumnal UAE equinox, a major astronomical event. As per the Emirates Astronomy Society chairman and the Arab Union for Astronomy and Space Sciences’  member, Ibrahim Al Jarwan, the equinox will happen on September 23 when the daylight and night will be barely equal, around 12 hours each.

Nights Growing Longer in the UAE

Al Jarwan explained that nighttime will steadily increase as September progresses. However, it is going to last about 8 to 10 minutes every week. Notably, this trend is going to continue through September and October. So, it signals the shift from autumn across the region.

Seasonal Comparisons: Summer vs. Winter

The longest day of the year in the UAE happens on June 21 (summer solstice), where the daylight remains around 13 hours and 40 minutes. On the other hand, the shortest day is going to fall on December 21 (winter solstice), where residents will witness the daylight og 10 hours and 20 minutes of daylight. This natural change plays an important part in shaping daily life, agricultural methods, and energy use across the Emirates.

UAE Equinox 2025: Transition to Autumn

Experts have highlighted that the equinox is more than a scientific achievement. In addition, this transformation is also a turning point for the UAE.  So, the change attracts a slower drop in temperature and a noticeable shift in weather patterns.  In addition, it will provide people with the long-awaited relief from the summer heat.

Al Jarwan said, “The equinox marks the start of autumn”. So, it notes that residents are going to experience cooler evenings soon. In addition, people across the emirates will see shorter days and longer nights. So, it marks a change that will influence lifestyle and outdoor activity.

Key Takeaway for UAE Residents

Residents can look forward to more balanced daylight hours and a seasonal shift toward cooler weather as September 23 is coming near. So, the astronomical event highlights the cyclical beauty of nature.

In addition, it also serves as a reminder of how closely our daily lives are connected to the movement of the Earth and the sun. So, families across the Emirates should prepare themselves for early sunset and cooler evenings that encourage outdoor activities, seasonal traditions, etc.
