UAE Introduces UAE Golden Visa for Waqf Donors—A genuine Support for Humanitarian Work

 Waqf (Islamic endowment) donors can now qualify for a UAE Golden Visa under the category of “financial supporters of humanitarian work. However, the country has announced the UAE golden visa for Waqf donors in a landmark move to support the humanitarian work. 

Moreover, the initiative was announced after a formal cooperation agreement between the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs–Dubai (GDRFA-Dubai) and the Endowments and Minors Affairs Foundation (Awqaf Dubai) on Friday.

The new framework allows residents and non-residents who contribute to humanitarian initiatives to receive long-term residency. Hence, it recognizes their role in attracting social impact and community development. 

How Does the UAE Golden Visa for Waqf Donors Program Work?

Awqaf Dubai will nominate eligible endowers in line with Cabinet Resolution No. (65) of 2022 under this agreement. However, this resolution highlights the criteria for Golden Visa issuance for financial supporters of humanitarian work. Once nominated, GDRFA-Dubai will process and issue the residency permits based on these suggestions.

A joint committee comprising representatives from both entities will monitor implementation, assess results, and guarantee the program achieves its social objectives to ensure the effectiveness of the “UAE Golden Visa for Waqf Donors.” However, the partnership move highlights the emphasis of Dubai on institutional integration in boosting sustainable and human-centered initiatives.

GDRFA-Dubai said in an official statement, “This collaboration empowers the position of Dubai as a global hub for tolerance and humanitarian giving”. Lt-Gen Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, GDRFA director general, highlighted that the agreement is an advanced model of governmental integration. Hence, it empowers the Waqf donors to contribute meaningfully through the impactful initiatives that promote giving  sustainability and social responsibility.

Awqaf Dubai analyzes the management and regulations of endowments across the UAE. However, the foundation invests endowment funds into Sharia-compliant and sustainable projects aimed at enhancing the welfare of society.

Ali Mohammed Al Mutawa, Awqaf Dubai secretary-general,  stated that giving the UAE Golden Visa for Waqf Donors shows the vision of Dubai to position endowment work as an important partner in sustainable development.
