UAE National Day Holiday 2025: Four-Day Weekend Announced for Private Sector

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has officially announced December 1 and 2, 2025, as paid UAE National Day Holiday 2025 for the UAE private sector in celebration of Eid Al Etihad or the nation’s Union Day. 

Moreover, the announcement was made on Monday, which aligns the private sector schedule with that of the public sector. Hence, it followed a similar declaration earlier in the day by the  Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR).

Now, residents can enjoy a four-day break, as the holiday is falling on a Monday and Tuesday, and the regular Saturday–Sunday weekend preceding it, residents across the UAE can enjoy a four-day break. However, it is a welcome opportunity for families to travel, unwind, and participate in Union Day festivities.

The MoHRE has extended its congratulations to the leadership, citizens, and residents of the UAE. Hence, it recognises the importance of the occasion as a time to honour the founder of the nation and show the historic journey of the UAE. 

Unity Day, also known as Eid Al Etihad, is one of the significant days in the national calendar. Therefore, it represents unity, pride, and the shared identity of the diverse population of the UAE.

Why the UAE Celebrates Eid Al Etihad?

The UAE celebrates Eid Al Etihad on the 2nd of December each year to mark the important moment that happened in 1,971 when 7 emirates united to form the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Below is the detailed meaning of the event with its significance:

The phrase “Eid Al Etihad” translates into the festival of union, as Etihad means union. Hence, it reflects the foundation of the union, reflects the foundation of the UAE’s national identity and its enduring values of unity, heritage, and strength.

According to the official Eid Al Etihad website, the celebration serves as a reminder that our strength lies in the bonds we create hand-in-hand, and in the individuals and communities across the nation who, united, carry our story forward. 

This message resonates strongly in a country popular for its diverse mix of nationals and expatriates who call the country their home.

The Eid Al Etihad is more than just a UAE National Day Holiday 2025.
