Authorities across Dubai and Abu Dhabi have rolled out detailed safety and traffic plans as the country is getting ready for the UAE New Year Eve 2026. In addition, it ensures the celebration is joyful, secure, and incident-free. However, officials are requesting residents and visitors to follow safety guidelines, plan ahead, and cooperate with on-ground teams for a smooth start to the year. This is because fireworks, concerts, beachfront parties, and large public gatherings are expected throughout the year.
UAE New Year Eve 2026 Celebrations: Safety Takes Centre Stage
The UAE New Year Eve is one of the busiest nights of the country. Moreover, celebrations are scheduled across 40 locations in Dubai. Hence, it prompts the Dubai Event Security Committee to issue clear safety advisories for the public.
More than 55 government, semi-government, and private entities are involved in crowd control, traffic management, and emergency response. Hence, it has highlighted the scale of preparations in place. Authorities have confirmed that all security arrangements are completed. However, they highlighted that public cooperation is important to ensure the safety of everyone.

Dubai: Key Safety Instructions for the Public

Dubai Police and the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) have also advised people to attend the New Year’s Eve events to arrive early because popular areas are expected to see heavy crowding.
Follow Official Instructions
Residents and tourists are urged to strictly follow directions from police officers and field teams deployed at celebration sites. Moreover, regular updates on road closures, parking restrictions, and transport changes will be shared through official Dubai Police and RTA channels.
Use Public Transport
Authorities strongly recommend using the Dubai Metro, public buses, and taxis to reduce congestion. Moreover, public transport services will typically run extended hours on the UAE New Year Eve. Hence, it will make them the safest and most convenient option.

Support and Assistance Tents

Dedicated support tents are also set up at key locations. Moreover, they will perform the following tasks:
- Act as lost and found points
- Help reunite separated family members
- Provide immediate assistance for lost children
Dubai police has also advised the public to call 901 for non-emergency inquiries and 999 in urgent or emergency situations for assistance.
Safety at Sea
Those who are celebrating on boats are required to register their trips through the Sail Safely service on the Dubai Police smart app. This service enables authorities to quickly locate vessels using the SOS feature in case of emergencies.
Airport Travel Advisory
Travellers who are flying on New Year Eve are also requested to leave for the airport earlier than usual. Moreover, temporary road closures and heavy traffic might affect access to Dubai International Airport and Al Maktoum International Airport. Hence, it could increase the risk of missed flights.

Abu Dhabi: Traffic and Public Safety Measures

Abu Dhabi police have also confirmed full readiness for the UAE New Year Eve 2026 Celebration Safety Precautions, supported by a joint security and traffic plan developed with strategic partners.
Brigadier Mohammed Dahy Al-Hamiri, Director of the Central Operations Sector, said that security teams will closely monitor tourist hotspots, shopping centres, and major roads are expected to attract large crowds.
Driving Safety Warnings
- Follow speed limits and traffic laws
- Avoid mobile phone use while driving
- Maintain a safe distance between vehicles
- Stay alert during late-night travel
Authorities have also warned against unsafe behaviour like reckless driving, excessive noise, and the use of party spray because they are dangerous in crowded public spaces.
Advanced Monitoring and Emergency Response
The Command and Control Centre in Abu Dhabi has been fully equipped with advanced technology and trained personnel to manage traffic flow and respond quickly to any incidents during the celebrations.
