A Busy Year of Satellite Launches
The year began with many successful satellite missions. Thuraya 4, Mohammed bin Zayed Sat, Al Ain Sat-1, HCT-SAT 1, and the second phase of the Foresight satellite constellation were launched on the 4th of January 2025. Moreover, the UAE marked a milestone with the launch of its first radar satellite in March. However, it boosts the technological capabilities of the nation.
Strategic Lunar Partnerships
The Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) partnered with Thales Alenia Space to create the Pressure Equalisation Unit for NASA’s Gateway lunar station. Hence, it contributes to securing the permanent role of the UAE in lunar exploration.

On the other hand, Rashid Rover 2 is going to explore the far side of the Moon in 2026 through Firefly Aerospace, carrying payloads from NASA, ESA, and Australia. Moreover, the collaboration with the CNES of France ensures high-resolution imaging for the scientific result.
Building a Future-Ready Workforce
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is training the next generation of space specialists at home. Actually, the National Space Academy, in partnership with EDGE, launched the Space Mission and Satellite Engineering Programme (SMSE) to train Emirati professionals in satellite operation, mission design, and system engineering.
Landmark Missions: Asteroids and Mars
The Emirates Mission to the Asteroid Belt (EMA) of the UAE is set to study seven asteroids between Mars and Jupiter. Moreover, the Hope Probe celebrates its fifth anniversary orbiting Mars, which contributes valuable data to global research on the Martian climate.
