The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) has issued a dust storm alert of UAE weather for Saturday. So, it is a warning for residents and motorists to prepare for the reduced visibility and challenging driving conditions.
Dust Storm Alert for Saturday
As per the NCM, fresh to strong southeasterly winds could reach up to 45 km/hr, which will sweep across the internal and coastal areas between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm. Moreover, these winds are expected to stir up blowing dust and sand. So, these conditions could reduce visibility to less than 2,000 meters in several regions.
Motorists are requested to drive alert, reduce speed, and maintain a safe distance from other vehicles to avoid accidents. Moreover, authorities have requested to plan travel accordingly and stay indoors during the peak dusty conditions if needed.
The mercury soared across the country on Saturday. However, the highest temperature recorded in the UAE was 48.5°C in Al Jazeera BG (Al Dhafra Region) at 4:15 pm.
UAE Weather Outlook for Sunday
The NCM predicts partly cloudy to cloudy skies on Sunday in the Eastern and Southern regions. Moreover, there is also a chance of light rain at night. So, you could get some relief from the scorching rain.
Winds are expected to shift from southeasterly to northeasterly. In addition, the speed of wind could range between 10 km/hr and 25 km/hr. However, it may occasionally reach up to 35 km/hr. Moreover, the conditions at sea are expected to remain slight in the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea. So, these sea conditions would be safer for the marine activities.
Temperature Forecast
Tomorrow, the temperature is expected to remain high across the UAE. We have listed the temperature forecast for some of the emirates:
- Abu Dhabi: 46ºC (high), 34ºC (low)
- Dubai: 45ºC (high), 33ºC (low)
- Sweihan (lowest): 31ºC
These numbers show the ongoing summer extreme in the UAE. However, the daytime high could remain above 45ºC in most regions.
Safety advisory
As the temperature is expected to remain high, there is also a chance of a continued dust storm. Therefore, you should follow the following tips:
- You should avoid unnecessary travel during dusty conditions.
- It would be best to keep windows and doors closed to minimize dust exposure.
- You should stay hydrated and limit outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours.
The NCM will monitor the conditions and issue the relevant alerts in the future. Thus, you should stay updated with this authority.
