UAE Weather Alert: Orange and Yellow Warnings Issued as Rain and Dust Storms Expected Through July 28

The UAE’s National Center of Meteorology (NCM) has released orange and yellow UAE Weather alerts across many regions of the nation today. It has alerted the residents of adverse weather conditions that are expected to last through Monday, July 28. Moreover, these alerts are the reasons for the development of convective clouds, which are linked to rainfall, strong winds, and blowing dust.

Earlier today, Showkah and Wadi Isfay in Ras Al Khaimah also recorded light rain. Therefore, it confirms the weather patterns predicted by meteorologists. In addition, the NCM has extended the warning to regions in Fujairah, Al Ain, and Al Dhafra. So, residents must be prepared for the continued rain until 8:00 PM tonight.

Expert Insight: What’s Behind the Convective Clouds and Sudden Weather Shift?

Convective clouds are typically developed due to increasing warm and moist air, especially during the scorching summer months in the UAE. Moreover, these clouds can trigger short but intense rainfall with a dust storm.

Therefore, it could create sudden visibility challenges for drivers and motorists. Experts said that these particular conditions are seasonal but slightly more intense than average. Moreover, this system will last until the early hours of July 28.

NCM’s Official Forecast on UAE weather alerts for July 28

The NCM states that the unstable conditions will continue to affect the eastern and southern region of the UAE on Monday, July 28, i.e, tomorrow. Moreover, the forecast has highlighted that there is a chance of convective cloud formation, which might bring showers throughout the day. It would be best to take a look at the complete forecast for tomorrow in the UAE:

  • Wind speeds are expected to range from 10–25 km/h, which could gust up to 40 km/h. These conditions could lead to blowing dust and reduced visibility.
  • Temperatures are predicted to vary significantly. It could be dipping to 28°C in mountainous areas like Jabal Jais. On the flip side, the temperature could soar to a sweltering 50°C in Abu Dhabi’s Mukhariz region, located in Al Dhafra.
  • The sea condition will be slight in the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea. Thus, it will be safer for coastal activities despite inland weather risks.

Safety Guidelines and Government Alerts for Residents

The UAE also issued a safety advisory as part of its commitment to the public safety. It is urging residents to follow strict precautions during this period. Below are the top tips in this advisory:

  • Avoid driving unless absolutely necessary in affected areas.
  • If you are on the road, you should reduce your speed and maintain a safe distance from other vehicles due to low visibility.
  • You should not forget to turn on your vehicle’s headlights when the visibility is low.
  • Stay updated via official NCM channels and emergency alerts.

We also recommend securing the outdoor furniture and restricting travel in an open area, particularly during peak wind activity.

Living Through It: What UAE Residents Are Saying

Many people in Fujairah and Al Ain have already started experiencing light showers with the dusty winds. Moreover, residents are sharing pictures and videos on social media platforms, like Instagram and X. However, the mood has been a mix of awe at a rare rainfall because of the slippery roads and poor visibility.

Stay Safe and Stay Informed

Currently, the UAE weather is taking a brief turn from its usual dry heat because the convective clouds are triggering local rainfall with strong winds and dust storms. Therefore, it is important for residents and travelers to follow the NCM’s advisories and take precautions.
