The UAE Weather is preparing for one of the hottest phases of the year. In addition, the astrologers and meteorologists warn the residents related to extreme heat, soaring humidity, and unstable weather conditions in the final third of August.
Suhail Star Signals Intense Heat
Ibrahim Al Jarwan, Emirates Astronomy Society’s Chairman, shared that the rise of the Sohail star in late August is the beginning of what is traditionally popular among Arabs as “Sohail Ailment. Notably, it is a period characterized by intense heat and high humidity. So, it can cause fatigue, dehydration, and exhaustion for residents.
The condition is expected to continue until the autumnal equinox on September 23, when the day and night will be equal. However, the temperature is forecast to ease from September 24. So, it will bring the much-needed relief from the scorching summer. Al Jarwan suggested residents stay alert during this period. In addition, it would be avoid prolonged outdoor exposure and stay hydrated to prevent heat-related illnesses.
NCM UAE Weather Alert: Rain and Hazardous Conditions
On one side, the scorching heat is all set to dominate the UAE. On the other side, the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has issued a weather alert for Monday evening between 5:15 pm and 8:15 pm. Moreover, forecasters predict cumulus clouds, rainfall, and potentially severe weather across the UAE.
Authorities have urged the public to stay alert during outdoor activities. In addition, these sudden shifts from heat to stormy conditions might create hazardous conditions, like slippery roads and low visibility.
Safety Advice from Abu Dhabi Police
Due to rainy conditions, the Abu Dhabi police have reminded residents to stay cautious while driving in the emirate. In addition, it has suggested the following tips:
- Drivers are advised to adhere to variable speed limits displayed on electronic boards and road signs.
- Extra vigilance is required near waterlogged areas and low-visibility zones.
- Residents are urged to avoid unnecessary travel during storm warnings.
What Residents Should Expect
- Until September 23: Extreme heat and humidity, especially during midday hours.
- Possible rain and storms: Cumulus cloud formations bringing scattered showers and thunderstorms.
- After September 24: A gradual drop in temperatures, marking the transition towards autumn.
As heat stress and sudden rain showers are both posing risks, it would be best to stay alert and follow the official updates from the NCM.
