UAE Weather: According to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is set to experience generally stable winter weather on Friday, 2 January 2026, with fair to partly cloudy skies across most of the country. Daytime conditions will stay pleasant. However, residents are advised to stay alert as the humidity is expected to rise overnight to increase the chance of fog or mist, especially in the coastal and internal regions.

UAE temperature will see a slight increase on Friday to offer comfortable winter conditions. Maximum temperature is forecast to be 24 °C in Abu Dhabi and 25 °C in Dubai. However, both emirates will experience cooler nights, as the minimum temperature is forecast to be around 16 °C. 

Daytime temperatures are likely to range between 20 °C and 25 °C across coastal and island areas. However, inland areas might experience slightly warmer conditions as the temperature is expected to remain high of up to 26 °C. On the other hand, mountain areas will stay cooler because temperatures are expected to stay between 12 °C and 18 °C, which makes them the coldest regions in the country.

Winds and Sea Conditions on Friday

The NCM has forecast light to moderate winds in the country. However, they could mainly blow from the southwesterly to northwesterly directions. Moreover, wind speeds will generally range between 10 km/h and 20 km/h. Yet, they could strengthen occasionally as they could reach up to 35 km/h at times. 

Sea conditions will stay relatively calm today. The Arabian Gulf is expected to be slight to moderate. Still, the Sea of Oman will be slight. Hence, it makes conditions suitable for most marine activities. However, boat owners and fishermen are advised to continue monitoring official updates.

Humidity and Fog Alert Overnight

Today, humidity levels are forecast to increase as the night falls, which could extend into Saturday morning. This rise in moisture could raise the possibility of fog or mist, especially during the early morning hours in coastal and inland areas. Motorists are requested to drive carefully, reduce speed, and follow traffic advisories if visibility drops.

Weekend Weather: Dust, Strong Winds, and Rough Seas

Apart from the stable conditions on Friday, the UAE Weather conditions are expected to turn more unsettled over the weekend. Skies will continue to be fair to partly cloudy on Saturday. However, winds are forecast to strengthen significantly. 

Southwesterly to northwesterly winds may reach speeds of up to 45 km/h, particularly over the sea. These stronger winds could raise dust and reduce visibility in open areas. Moreover, it could lead to rough to very rough conditions in the Arabian Gulf by night.

Sunday to Bring the Most Challenging Conditions

According to the NCM, Sunday is expected to bring the most challenging weather conditions of the weekend.  Dusty and partly cloudy skies will dominate with a noticeable drop in temperature, especially across the western regions of the country.

Strong northwesterly winds could reach speeds of up to 50 km/h. Hence, it could significantly reduce visibility in exposed and open areas. Similarly, sea conditions in the Arabian Gulf will stay very rough. However, the Sea of Oman might experience moderate to strong waves. Hence, residents are advised to avoid unnecessary marine activities during this period. 

Improvement Expected Early Next Week

The good news is that the UAE weather conditions are forecast to improve early next week. Skies are expected to return fair to partly cloudy. However, low clouds are expected to form over northern and eastern regions.

Winds will be easy. Moreover, sea conditions will become slight to moderate once again. However, rising humidity will continue to increase the risk of fog or mist during the night and early morning, particularly in inland areas.
