As per the latest report by the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), residents across the UAE can expect rainfall and thunderstorms on Thursday, 21 August. Moreover, showers are predicted in the UAE weather due to the formation of convection clouds in the eastern and southern parts of the country.
What’s Behind the UAE Weather Change?
The NCM experts said that the change in the weather conditions is directly linked to the extension of the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) moving from the south towards the UAE.
In addition, surface and upper-level low-pressure conditions support this system, which creates an ideal condition for scattered rainfall and thunderstorms. Earlier, the NCM had also predicted two consecutive days of unstable weather, including possible lightning activity in some regions.
Winds, Dust, and Visibility
Besides rainfall, there is also a chance of light to moderate winds, which are expected to turn fresh to strong winds. In addition, these winds could lead to blowing dust and sand that could reduce visibility in some areas. So, Al Hamra in Al Dhafra region is currently experiencing a visibility drop to below 2000 meters due to the peak dust activity.
Marine Conditions
The marine condition is relatively to remain relatively slight for those heading towards the coastal areas. However, the Arabian Gulf is forecast to be slight to moderate. On the other hand, the Oman Sea is expected to remain relatively calm. Still, authorities have advised residents to exercise caution when traveling to these regions.
Temperature Forecast Across UAE Cities
Despite the rainfall, there is speculation that the temperature across the UAE to remain high. So, you can see the temperature forecast below:
- Abu Dhabi: 33ºC – 41ºC
- Dubai: 33ºC – 42ºC
- Sharjah: 33ºC – 43ºC
As per the NCM, Mebreh Mountain, Ras Al Khaimah, experiences the lowest temperature of 22.6°C on Thursday morning at 6:45 AM UAE local time.
Safety Advisory for Residents
Residents receives advises from the NCM to stay alert for the weather warning, particularly if you are traveling to the dust-prone areas. Moreover, motorists and drivers are advised to drive alertly due to reduced visibility. However, outdoor activities in deserts or mountainous regions are best avoided when the weather conditions are normal.
Weather experts have also reveal that unstable conditions across the UAE will continue in August because the ITCZ movement influencing rain patterns, thunderstorm activity, and sudden temperature fluctuations. So, you should follow the safety precautions.
