UAE Weather Update for 18 August: Light Rain and High Temperatures Expected

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has predicted a mix of fair to cloudy UAE weather update for 18 August, Monday. In addition, there is a chance of light rain in parts of the eastern and southern regions. 

According to the NCM, southeasterly to northeasterly winds are going to prevail, which could blow at speeds between 10 km/hr to 25 km/hr. However, it could reach up to 35 km/h. Therefore, these winds are expected to mix light dust that could reduce visibility in some areas.  Despite it, the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea will remain calm to ensure calmer maritime activity. 

High Temperatures Continue Across the UAE Weather Update  for 18 August

As of now, the peak of summer is over. However, the temperature remains consistently above 40°C across much of the country. Thus, Abu Dhabi is expected to hit 44°C on Monday, i.e, tomorrow. Similarly, the temperature in Dubai will reach 43°C.  Moreover, the scorching heat has been a persistent challenge for residents. However, intermittent rain showers have offered much-needed relief. 

Many parts of the UAE have witnessed everything from light drizzles to heavy rain and even hailstorms in recent weeks. So, it is creating a diverse weather pattern during the hot weather. Therefore, the upcoming showers on August 18 are predicted to bring temporary relief from the intense heat. 

Expert Insights on the UAE’s Changing Summer Weather

Experts said that the UAE often sees unstable summer weather due to changing wind patterns and cloud formation over mountainous areas. So, the conditions increase the chances of localized rain showers during August. Therefore, you should stay updated with the NCM alerts, especially when you are planning for outdoor activities. 

What should residents expect from the UAE weather tomorrow?

  • Light rain showers in eastern and southern areas.
  • Dusty conditions due to moderate winds.
  • High temperatures of 43°C–44°C in major cities.
  • Slight sea conditions in both the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea.

As the UAE  heatwave continues, the prospect of cloudy skies and scattered rain on August 18 gives some comfort for residents.  So, the authorities recommend that you follow the following tips:

  •  Staying hydrated
  • Limiting outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours
  • Driving cautiously in areas with reduced visibility due to dust or rainfall.
