Residents of Umm Ghafa in Al Ain experience a rare condition in the soaring summer heat as heavy rainfall lashed the region around 4:15 PM. Moreover, the downpour was accompanied by gusty winds, which caused the trees to sway and reduced the visibility. Thus, it creates risky conditions for motorists because of the unstable UAE weather.
According to the eyewitnesses and social media reports, parts of Dubai also see dusty weather. On the other hand, other regions remained cloudy to partly cloudy. Moreover, the temperature reached 51.8°C in some regions of the nation earlier this month. Still, the unexpected rainfall has given the UAE residents a temporary relief.
What Meteorologists Say About the Sudden Weather Shift?
According to Dr Ahmed Habib, a meteorologist at the National Center of Meteorology (NCM), the recent weather is typical of the Al Mirzam season, which is the hottest phase of the summer season in the UAE.
In addition, this condition could last until August 10. Moreover, he explained that a low-pressure system with moist winds from the Arabian Sea and the northward movement of the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) are behind the active weather conditions.
Dr. Habib said,” This is a normal phenomenon for this time of the year. We can expect intermittent rain, wind, and dust storms during this transitional phase.”
NCM Forecast UAE weather for August 4-6, 2025
The NCM forecasts that moderate to heavy rainfall is expected to affect eastern and southern regions, like Fujairah and Al Ain, on Monday and Tuesday. In addition, you can expect the following conditions during this period:
- Convective cloud formation
- Partly cloudy to hazy skies
- Humidity during the night and early morning
- Wind speeds of 10–25 km/hr, gusting up to 40 km/hr
- Dust storms could reduce visibility
The sea conditions in the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea are projected to moderate.
How to Stay Safe in the Unstable Weather of the UAE?
Motorists and drivers are among those people who are at high risk during this season. Therefore, you should be alert and follow the following tips:
- Drive with caution due to sudden dust storms
- Avoid waterlogged areas
- Follow real-time alerts from NCM and local authorities
It is important to stay up-to-date with the official forecast and maintain heat safety precautions in these fluctuating conditions.
