UAE Launches ‘A Day Without Accidents’ Initiative to Mark New School Year

The Ministry of Interior, represented by the Federal Traffic Council and in coordination with police leaders nationwide, has launched its pioneer traffic initiative, ‘A day without accidents’ to coincide with the ‘A safe school year’ initiative. Notably, it will take place on the 25th of August 2025, which is the first day of the new academic year in the nation. So, it aims to enhance road safety awareness and protect all road users.

A Day without Accidents will reward the responsible drivers

The campaign encourages motorists to sign a safety pledge and strictly follow traffic rules. However, they must follow the following rules:

  • Wearing seat belts at all times
  • Obeying speed limits
  • Maintaining a safe distance between vehicles
  • Prioritizing pedestrian safety
  • Avoiding distractions like mobile phone use while driving
  • Giving way to emergency vehicles, ambulances, police, and official convoys

If you register and follow these rules before August 25, you will be rewarded. In addition, four traffic points will be deducted from 15 September 2025, which will be processed automatically without visiting the service center.

How to Participate

You can participate in this campaign by taking a pledge through registering via the e-service link of the ministry: https://portal.moi.gov.ae/eservices/direct?scode=716&c=2

After registration, you have to ensure compliance with the pledge throughout the initiative to win the reward.

 Enhancing Community Traffic Awareness

The campaign is designed to reward compliance and boost community engagement in traffic safety. Moreover, the authority aims to be extra careful in school zones and high-traffic areas by linking it with the beginning of the school year.

Official Statement from the Ministry

Chairman of the Federal Traffic Council, Brigadier Engineer Hussein Ahmed Al Harthi, said in an official statement, “This campaign is a part of an ongoing effort to boost traffic safety by disseminating and highlighting traffic messages, requirements, and laws  designed to improve road safety and save lives and property.“

A Safer Start to the School Year

Thousands of students are set to return to their school on 25 August 2025. Therefore, the ministry believes that the “A Day Without Accident” campaign will set a positive tone for the academic year. In addition, it will decrease road accidents. Furthermore, the campaign is going to encourage a long-term culture of safe driving in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
