UAE schools are set to reopen on 25 August. Therefore, UAE residents are returning from their summer holidays. So, the inbound UAE airfares are seeing a sharp surge. Moreover, some routes are seeing fares more than quadruple compared to July. In addition, the rush to return before the new academic year, due to limited airline capacity, has driven ticket prices to record highs.
Back-to-School Flight Prices Hit Record Levels in the UAE airfares
Travel data highlights the steep fare hike across the key routes. Thus, an economy ticket from London to Dubai, which costs as low as Dh 1300 in July, with a connection. Now, it is priced at an eye-watering Dh6,321 for travel between August 18 and 24.
Similarly, direct London and Dubai flights that were available for Dh 2500 to Dh 3000 earlier this summer have surged. Moreover, here are the pricing details of key routes that show a sharp increase:
- Paris to Dubai: Dh5,628
- Tokyo to Dubai: Dh5,696
- Bangkok to Dubai: Dh8,448
- Singapore to Dubai: Dh2,292
- Istanbul to Dubai: Dh1,877
- Mumbai to Dubai: Dh1,600 (versus outbound fare of Dh1,195)
This surge highlights the trend that inbound flights are consistently more expensive than outbound flight routes.
Why Are Airfares So High?
Industry experts highlight the spike in a mix of peak-season demand and limited seat availability. Afi Ahmed, Chairman of Smart Travels, said, “ The last-minute rush has pushed the price up. Increased demand and restricted seat availability during peak travel inevitably drive yo ticket prices.”
Thus, Dubai International Airport (DXB) has announced it expects more than 3.6 million passengers between 13 August and 25 August 2025. Moreover, it expects a daily average of 280,000 travelers. The majority of families are returning from holidays, and students are headed back to Dubai.
Travel Tips to Save on Flights
Travel agents suggest advance booking to avoid price shocks. Therefore, booking tickets ahead can mean paying a fraction of the current peak-season rates. Therefore, people expect fares to ease soon.
One travel consultant said that we expect a gradual decrease in inbound UAE airfares from early September because the back-to-school rush subsides. However, the following tips will help you save money during this period:
- Considering alternative UAE airports or neighboring emirates.
- Staying flexible with travel dates.
- Use price alerts and early bookings to lock in lower fares.
Residents are expected to plan smartly and prepare for fare adjustments during the upcoming weeks.
