UAE Weather: Heavy Rains, Thunderstorms, and Dusty Conditions Hit Parts of UAE

UAE Weather update: Residents in Dubai and Al Ain saw a dramatic change in weather on Wednesday evening, as the heavy rainfall, lightning, and thunderstorms hit various parts of the nation.

According to the National Center of Meteorology (NCM), a surface low-pressure system and humid southeasterly winds and upper-level flows caused the unstable conditions. Hence, it triggers the formation of convective clouds that are capable of developing moderate to heavy showers.

Weather Conditions on September 3

Heavy rainfall was reported in the Margham area of Dubai around 6 pm, and light showers were seen near Al Ain. However, some areas saw dust storms and reduced visibility, which makes road traveling difficult.

46.5°C in Sweihan, Al Ain, at 2:45 pm was the highest temperature recorded across the nation. Hence, it highlights the contrast between scorching daytime heat and stormy evening weather.

The NCM confirmed a chance of convective cloud formation linked with rainfall over eastern areas between 2:00 pm and 8:00 pm. Moreover, fresh winds of up to 45 km/h accompany these clouds. Hence, it will cause blowing dust and sand and reduce horizontal visibility at times. Therefore, motorists are urged to exercise alert, particularly in eastern regions.

UAE Weather: Forecast for Thursday, September 4

The forecast from the NCM indicates that Thursday will bring fair to partly cloudy skies across most parts of the UAE. However, there is a chance of the formation of convection clouds in the eastern and southern areas with possible rainfall that could extend to some inland regions.

Residents in the Coastal areas in the West can expect humid conditions by Thursday night and Friday morning. So, it could add to overall discomfort levels. Moreover, winds are expected to remain light to moderate (10–25 km/h)but may strengthen to 45 km/hr near clouds, which could raise the risk of blowing dust and sand once again.

Sea conditions will stay slight to moderate in the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea. So, the marine activities are likely to remain safe.

Advisory for Residents

  • Motorists should drive carefully due to sudden dust storms and reduced visibility.
  • Residents in eastern and southern regions should prepare for possible rainfall.
  • Outdoor plans may be affected by shifting weather patterns.

The dynamic weather of the UAE shows the importance of staying updated with the official forecast from the National Center of Meteorology, especially during the period of convective clouds.
