Dubai commuters are experiencing smoother and faster metro journeys after the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) introduced the third route on the Dubai Metro Red Line to handle the peak-hour congestion. Key Route Details of the Dubai Metro Red Line
The new route runs between Centrepoint station (formerly Rashidiya) and Al Fardan Exchange station (formerly Al Khail). Moreover, the new route only runs during the rush hours from 7 am to 9 am and 4 pm to 7 pm. By redistributing passenger flow, the route directly addresses overcrowding on the busiest stretch of the Red Line.
Improved Train Frequency
Train intervals on the following routes have been adjusted for better efficiency due to the introduction of the third route:
- Centrepoint – Al Fardan Exchange: every 2 minutes
- Al Fardan Exchange – National Paints (formerly Jebel Ali): every 4 minutes
- National Paints – Expo 2020: every 8 minutes
- National Paints – Life Pharmacy (formerly UAE Exchange): every 8 minutes
This development has notably decreased the waiting times and eased platform congestion, particularly with the Centrepoint–Al Fardan corridor.
12% Boost in Capacity
According to the RTA, the new service has expanded the overall capacity by 12 percent on the Red Line. In addition, it allows the metro system to better handle the peak demand. Thus, this ensures a more comfortable and reliable commute for thousands of daily passengers.
