Jolly LLB 3 Review: Akshay Kumar & Arshad Warsi Face Off in a Courtroom Battle with a Social Message

Jolly LLB 3 Review: The much-loved legal drama franchise of Bollywood is back with Jolly LLB 3. However, this time, the movie has 2 Jollys – Jagdishwar Mishra (Akshay Kumar) and Jagdish Tyagi (Arshad Warsi) – for a court-room clash like never before. Since Subhash Kapoor directed it, it combines satire, sharp dialogue, and emotional depth while managing a subject rooted in the socio-political realities of India. Before moving forward to our detailed review, take a look at the Jolly LLB 3 trailer:

Plot and Themes

The story starts with the lighthearted rivalry between both Jollys. However, it instantly shifts its focus to a powerful land fraud case, where wealthy land-grabbers led by Haribhai Khetan (Gajraj Rao) are pushing poor farmers out of their homes.

A farmer’s suicide and his wife Janki’s (Seema Biswas) desire to seek justice set the stage for a gripping legal showdown. However, it is inspired by a real-life land acquisition protest. Moreover, the film highlights the issues of corruption, power, and morality within the Indian legal system.

Performances that Shine

Akshay Kumar delivers sharp one-liners and a heroic portrayal of a flawless and honest lawyer. Similarly, Arshad Warsi impressed with his natural charm and comic timing. Moreover, their chemistry attracts humor and heart to the narrative. Thus, it makes their transformation from rivals to allies believable.

On the other hand, the standout remains Saurabh Shukla as Judge Sundarlal Tripathi. Moreover, his witty sarcasm, unexpected romantic subplot, and commanding screen presence make him the soul of this film. However, Gajraj Rao’s performance as the villainous builder feels predictable at times. Still, his courtroom face-off adds intensity.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Subhash Kapoor succeeds in maintaining the identity of the franchise through mixing satire, humour, and emotional punches without making it overly melodramatic. Moreover, the anti-establishment of the film streaks resonates strongly, with its commentary on the systemic corruption and exploitation of farmers.

Despite many plus points, the film’s runtime feels stretched with certain sequences, like song placements and a camel-racing scene. This is because these sequences dilute the focus from the narrative.  However, supporting actresses Huma Qureshi and Amrita Rao are underutilized.

Jolly LLB 3 Review: Final Verdict

Jolly LLB 3 successfully mixes courtroom drama with humor and conscience. However, it is slower than its predecessors. Still, it is relevant, entertaining, and thought-provoking. Moreover, it is a reminder of why the franchise matters because it makes you laugh, question authority, and cheer for justice.
