The Dubai weather forecast is taking an usually turn this week as the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is under the influence of an active low-pressure system. Hence, it brings heavy rainfall, strong winds, rough seas, and a sharp drop in temperatures across many regions. According to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), unstable weather conditions are expected to stay until Friday as further rain is likely heading into the weekend.
Dubai Weather Forecast: Heavy Rain Hits UAE, Showers Reported in Dubai
Early morning showers were reported across parts of Dubai. However, Fujairah and the East coast experienced more intense, ranging from moderate to heavy. Moreover, areas like Masafi, Kalba, and Khor Fakkan were particularly affected, along with reduced visibility and slippery road conditions reported during peak hours.
Rain in Dubai is relatively rare. However, the spell of wet weather follows a similar pattern seen the last week when residents woke up to unexpected rainfall on Sunday. Earlier, the Dubai police also issued a public safety alert to warn residents about the unstable weather conditions.
Rain Forecast Dubai: More Showers on the Way

If you are planning outdoor activities, the rain forecast Dubai suggests you might need to stay flexible. Many weather forecast Dubai platforms are predicting continued rainfall over the coming days. Below is the rain forecast for the upcoming days:
- Thursday: Around a 60% chance of rain
- Friday: Up to a 95% chance of rain
- Sunday: Approximately 35% chance of rain
The WeatherRadar app indicates the Dubai weather forecast that rain could begin late Thursday night. In addition, it could continue till Friday morning with intermittent breaks and return again on Saturday. Moreover, the NCM has also confirmed that cloudy skies with heavy rains are expected from Thursday through Saturday. Hence, it reinforces concerns about the ongoing weather instability.
Sharp Drop in Temperatures Across the Country

Besides rain, you can also expect a sharp drop in temperature, especially during the early morning and late evening hours. The lowest temperature recorded so far was 9.9°C on Jais Mountain in Ras Al Khaimah. Hence, it highlights how cold conditions have become in the mountainous areas.
Daytime highs are forecast to reach only 21 °C in Dubai. However, the nighttime temperature could dip to 14 °C in the emirate. These temperatures are usually considered chill by local standards.
Cold winds in the early hours are adding to the winter-like feels. Therefore, we are seeing many residents with jackets, jumpers, and track pants.
Strong Winds and Rough Seas Trigger Weather Alerts
The ongoing weather system is also generating powerful southeasterly winds, which could reach up to a speed of 45 km/h. These winds have led to rough sea conditions in the Arabian Gulf because the sea is experiencing offshore wave heights rising to 7 feet.
Therefore, the NCM has also issued orange and yellow weather alerts for parts of Fujairah and Ras Al Khor Fakkan to urge residents and seafarers to perform extreme alert. Dust carried by strong winds may also impact air quality, particularly affecting those with allergies or respiratory conditions.
Why Is It Raining in Dubai?
Rain is not a regular feature of the UAE weather. However, cloud seeding often supports this weather, which is a scientific process run by the NCM. Rain can be enhanced by introducing fine particles such as salt crystals into clouds. It is an important initiative in a water-scarce country. Remember, the current weather system is largely driven by natural atmospheric pressure changes rather than cloud seeding alone.
Safety Advice for Residents
- Avoid coastal areas during rough sea conditions
- Drive carefully due to reduced visibility and wet roads
- Stay updated with official NCM alerts
- Consider indoor plans if rain intensifies over the weekend
