While recalling his arrival in July, Mark shared, “When we landed, everything hit at once – the skyline, heat, and the scale of it all.” However, the family had already spent months planning transitions, including securing business licenses, visas, and housing.
The initial weeks came with challenges due to homesickness and concerns in their life in the UAE. However, their determination to make it work kept going on. Mark admitted, “There was a moment when Tony and I questioned if we had bitten off more than we could chew. But our desire to give this a real shot kept us moving forward.”
Now, Mark confirmed that his family is completely settled here after three months. His children are happy in school, and his wife (Tony) also feels Abu Dhabi is her home. Moreover, the couple is excited to see what will happen next.

Mark said, “It is one of those places that makes you stop and just take it all in.”
Their adventure continued with an Emirates Tours and Safaris desert trip, featuring dune bashing, camel rides, and sandboarding. Some family members enjoyed the thrills, but some found the experience hilariously bumpy. However, it is a reminder that every adventure comes with a surprise.
The family has also visited the Dubai Mall Aquarium, the Burj Khalifa, and the iconic Burj Al Arab to sip the gold-dusted coffee on its private island to broaden their exploration for Life in the UAE. Mark explained, “These moments symbolised how far they have come from their life in the UK, literally and emotionally.”
Discovering Abu Dhabi’s Modern Wonders
Visiting TeamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi on Saadiyat Island, back in the capital. However, it is an immersive digital art experience where lights, sounds, and motion blend seamlessly. Mark described, “It is not just an exhibition; it is alive. Every movement changes the artwork, so no two visits are ever the same.”
The family has also dined at a Sand & Koal. However, it is a beachfront restaurant at Emirates Palace, which is popular for its stunning setting and open-fire cooking. Plus, fire performers and a glowing skyline created a moment of pure reflection as they enjoyed dinner by the Arabian Gulf. Mark said, “All the effort is moving here; it was absolutely worth it.”
Life in Abu Dhabi: Calm, Safe, and Family-Oriented
